Because of the close proximity to Anchorage and central location on the Peninsula, travel to and from Kenai is a breeze.

Kenai is easily reached from Anchorage by air or highway. It's just a leisurely 2.5 to 3 hour drive about 160 miles (260 kilometers) south of Anchorage along one of the most scenic highways in Alaska. A large portion of your journey will include travel along the Seward Highway, recently designated as an All-American Scenic Byway. For air travelers, it's just a short flight (25 minutes) on one of Era Aviation's schedules air carriers to the Kenai Municipal Airport, the largest airport on the Kenai Peninsula. Flights arrive and leave the Kenai airport hourly.

Both air and road are excellent ways to explore the Kenai Peninsula while you are here. Various air taxi services provide transportation to remote wilderness areas for wildlife viewing and sport fishing. For those who wish to travel by car, several major car rental companies are located at the Kenai Municipal Airport and rental cars and vans are also available through local car rental companies. Prior reservations are recommended during the summer months and can be made through your travel agent, one of the local reservation services or directly with a transportation company. During the summer the Homer Stage Line provides bus service throughout the Peninsula and to and from Anchorage.
