With over three million acres, Alaska boasts the largest state park system in the United States. The Kenai River Special Management Area, a special unit of the state park system, is known for its recreational opportunities, particularly sport fishing. There are many public and private campgrounds in the Special Management Area. Among them are Centennial and Swiftwater campgrounds, located in Kenai's sister city, Soldotna.
